Merging Technologies at PALMEXPO 2013

Horus and Ovation offers an unbeatable combination

Puidoux, 2nd May 2013:Merging Technologies will be supporting local distributor for India, Modi Digital at the PALMEXPO in Mumbai on Stall C21, booth 15. Now in its 13th year, this major media event takes place at the Bombay Exhibition Center 30th May to 1st June. This will be the first occasion where the full range of Merging Technologies’ products will be on show. This includes Horus, Pyramix and Ovation, all being shown in their latest versions.

Horus, Merging’s new flagship I/O system is revolutionizing the audio converter world. Brisk sales over the past 12 months have firmly established it as the best quality and most cost efficient converter available. Horus has been designed as a stand-alone converter of the highest quality, but its utility is hugely increased by becoming an IP “node” on a RAVENNA network. Combined with Merging’s MassCore, performance and flexibility takes on another dimension and allows comprehensive routing and control of the astonishing I/O capability of the converter.

This highly scalable solution has applications right across the industry from the simplest location recording and mastering to major broadcast facilities, OB vans, live sound and large installation projects. Ease of installation and set-up makes Horus an obvious choice by saving large quantities of cable, minimising rack space and increasing reliability. The capability of Horus can be enjoyed by any DAW owner thanks to the ASIO driver and the upcoming CoreAudio equivalent.

Of particular interest will be Ovation which will be at PALMEXPO for the first time. At the heart of the Ovation 4 system is one of the most flexible and intuitive cue sequencers available. Capable of huge multi-track audio playback (up to 384 tracks) of any file type or sample rate (real-time SRC) combined with control protocol firing for interaction with any system configuration (MIDI/RS-232/GPIO/RS-422/LTC/Script/…), Ovation is proving itself to be a new standard for configured live event playback.

Within the same application exists an incredibly powerful internal mix engine. Combining playback audio and feeds from live inputs, the mixer can then be manipulated by mouse or through remote protocols such as EuCon, Oasis and MIDI/HUI. Then, once balances have been created, it is possible for the user to save mixer snapshots and embed them in cues for recall with user definable glide times. Output is provided over optional MADI/AES/TDIF/Analogue and incorporates the RAVENNA Audio over IP protocol as standard, which allows it to connect to Horus.

Ovation 4 also provides an easy to use and easy to configure remote interface for the system with the WebServer option. Using any web-enabled device, it is possible to connect to the Ovation show over http and access all the firing controls through any standard web interface. And, as the WebServer option is connected using JavaScript, a white paper provided with each Ovation 4 system allows the possibility for the creation of custom interfaces using basic web page design. Now fully compatible with Dataton’s WATCHOUT™ multi-display production and playback system, this will be demonstrated during PALMEXPO.

Merging Technologies’ cornerstone product, Pyramix 8 is now the first DAW in the world to natively support RAVENNA Audio over IP for use with its “DSP” based system. A gigantic leap forward in connectivity for professional audio equipment, RAVENNA allows users to interchange real-time audio streams across (properly managed) standard Layer 3 networks. This new connectivity is what allows for ultra-low latency interaction with our revolutionary new audio interface, Horus. Now available for use with both our MassCore and ASIO based Native Engines, this combination is set to create a new benchmark in the pro-audio world.
In addition, numerous new features and enhancements are now available with the V8 release, bringing improvements to almost every workflow. The new 8.1 release adds 384 kHZ DXD and DSD to the already prodigious specifications of Horus.

Merging Product Manager Johan Wadsten will be on hand to demonstrate the latest features of all the hardware and software on display. He commented; “India has so much going on in the entertainment and events world and we think we have a unique set of tools that work across so many sectors. Merging is delighted to support Aditya Modi in introducing our latest products to the local market”.
