International Awards For Polish Recordings On Pyramix

Success in ICMA and BBC Music Magazine Awards

Puidoux May 30th 2012: Following the string of Grammy® awards for classical recordings made on Pyramix, two notable performances by leading Polish musicians have collected more highly prestigious accolades.

The first is a collection of Schumann Piano Pieces issues on Virgin Classics which received the top prize in the instrumental category of the BBC Music Magazine Awards. This was played by the outstanding pianist Piotr Anderszewski. The recording was made in DXD format on Pyramix by CDAccord with Andrzej Sasin producing and Ola Nagorko making the recording and editing.

The International Classical Music Awards ceremony took place in Nantes on 15th May 2012 and prize for the best contemporary work was presented to conductor Antoni Wit and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra for a recording of the Penderecki Viola Concerto and Cello Concerto No. 2. The soloists were Grigory Zhislin and Tatjana Vassiljeva and this is released on the Naxos label. The recording team was the same as for the Schumann recording using the same Pyramix set. This section was hotly contested with fifteen nominated recordings from all over the world including other pieces from Krzysztof Penderecki.

The ICMA jurors are music critics representing prestigious music magazines from all over Europe (such as "Scherzo", "Musica", "Crescendo", "Viva Classica", "Pizzicato", "Music & Theater"). Awards are granted in 15 CD and DVD categories as well as 6 special categories. This year's Lifetime Achievement Award went to Krzysztof Penderecki, while the title of Artist of the Year was given to Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, a frequent guest at Warsaw Philharmonic.

A truly notable result for Polish music and Polish performers in two hotly contested international competitions.
