Merging Technologies At IBC 2019

Networked Audio and new software releases take centre stage

Amsterdam RAI – Stand 8.E96: September 2019 - Merging has been at the forefront of Audio over IP technology for seven years and has participated in the majority of IP Showcase events since they began. It will be no surprise that all Merging networked audio products are ST2110-30 compliant. However, some broadcasters are already locked into ST2022-7 and Merging is now able to offer Seamless Protection Switching (SPS) via a simple firmware upgrade. Merging is supplying OEMs with its ZMAN component and is introducing ST2022-7 compliance to that offering from IBC 2019. As this technology is increasingly being used in Merging’s own products, this will roll back into those over the coming months. In the first instance, the MERGING+ANUBIS product will benefit from this enhancement. Since its NAB introduction, Anubis has quickly been adopted by major broadcasters as a perfect device for remote production in a complex IP environment. Its compact size and ability to manage a large number of IP streams make it ideal for checking incoming audio with the option of listening on loudspeakers or via the extremely high-quality headphone amplifiers.

Anubis joins the well-established Horus and Hapi products that offer increased connectivity via MADI, AES/EBU and analog I/O. Linking a number of these interfaces via AES67/RAVENNA provides simple control of a very sizable audio installation from the Anubis itself.

IBC also sees the first showing of the recently introduced Pyramix 12 and Ovation 8 updates. Pyramix has been the preferred choice of many broadcasters for live recording, particularly for prestige events where high track counts and reliability are a must. Pyramix 12 also introduces a complete hybrid channel based and Ambisonic workflow by the integration of b<>com technology into the mixer. This also flows through to Ovation which is similarly able to handle up to 7th order as a paid option but with up to 2nd order included as standard. The popular FLUX EVO CHANNEL and EVO IN plug ins are now available in Merging’s native VS3 format. Other improvements address the mastering capabilities of Pyramix for recording clients.

Merging’s open source IP management control software, ANEMAN, supports all the main OEM suppliers; Archwave, Ross Video’s BACH module and Merging’s own ZMAN OEM and examples of these will be on show on the Merging stand and on the RAVENNA booth (8.F57). Integration with Lawo broadcast products is progressing with interoperability achieved with the R3LAY range of Virtual Radio products and the A_line audio over IP nodes. Additional products will be added in coming months.

The Merging Technologies management team will be in attendance for demonstrations and meetings which can be booked by contacting sales@merging.com.
