VS3 Software Development Kit

Merging Technologies' powerful Mykerinos DSP board is a general purpose audio engine that can provide mixing and digital audio processing capabilities in a number of PC hardware and software environments. Our Open-Platform Virtual Studio Software Development Kit provides a portable Applications Programming Interface (API) to facilitate integration of Mykerinos into other audio, video and multimedia systems.

 OVERVIEW

The Virtual studio API is a set of Component Object Model (COM) objects that facilitate the access to the Mykerinos DSP board. As all the objects are based on the COM standard, the API can be used with any languages that support the use of COM objects. The API works under Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0 SP6.

 KEY FEATURES

  • All internal processing is done in 32 bit floating point to retain the best audio quality.
  • All processing is real-time allowing live application with a very low latency of 2.7 ms.
  • Support of up to 8 Mykerinos card in the system.
  • Support of all I/O daughter cards available including multiple and heterogeneous configurations.
  • Support of up to 128 playback and 128 record tracks from/to hard disk per Mykerinos card.
  • Support of all sampling rates from 32KHz to 384 kHz.
  • Support of Multi tasking allowing for instance to Playback, Record, Batch digitize and Mix at the same time.
  • Precise synchronization with the internal timecode generator or an external timecode source.
  • Sync to all video reference signals including PAL, NTSC and all TriLevel HDTV rates.
  • Timecode chase with an accuracy of +/- 1 audio sample.
  • Varispeed/Scrubbing on every hard-disk track.
  • Mixer and effects can be fully automated and/or remote controlled.
  • Open effect architecture, allowing registered developers to add more effects to the system.
  • High quality dithering/noise shaping of the recorded hard-disk tracks and of the live outputs.
  • Real-time DSP load watching, PCI spying, Playback/Record buffers watching and profiling.
  • Possibility to build a custom mixer user-interface using the low-level functions or to use the built-in Mixer user interface to shorten the development time.
  • Sample accurate recording and punch-in/punch out, including internal interleaving of samples from 16 bits to 32 bits floating point.

 ON-LINE HELP & SAMPLES

The Virtual Studio SDK comes with a complete HTML help file that provides extensive hypertext links to information on the entire SDK and complete descriptions of all function calls.

The Virtual Studio also comes with a set of samples written in C++ showing many aspects of the API, including Mixing, Playback, Recording, TimeCode Chasing, Video Synchronizing and more.
