AES-EBU I/O Option

The Mykerinos AES-EBU Daughter board offers 24 channels of digital I/O over 12 AES-EBU input and output pairs. It can be ordered in either  of two versions: with or without SRC (Sample Rate Converter)
In the DC AES SRC version, the first eight  channels feature real-time Sampling Rate Conversion from 32 to 96 kHz, which may be inserted either in the input or output signal path under software control. Both "single wire" (32 to 96 kHz) and "dual wire" (64 to 192 kHz) modes are supported under software control.
Connection is over three DB-25 connectors (one primary on the daughter card itself, two additional connectors on separate ribbon cables). Up to three optional DB-25 to XLR cables may be ordered separately.

 SPECIFICATIONS

DC AES SRC Version:

  • 24 channels of 24-bit digital input over 12 AES EBU pairs.

  • 24 channels of 24-bit digital output over 12 AES EBU pairs.

  • All sampling rates from 32 to 48 kHz in “single wire” mode.

  • Compatibility with the HDTDM Bus in order to connect it to other Mykerinos boards.

Channels 1-8 over 4 AES EBU pairs:

  • Sampling rate converter can be selected in pair of channels either on input or output.

  • All sampling rates from 32 to 96 kHz in “single wire” mode.

  • x2/x4 sampling rates (64, 88.2 and 96 kHz/128, 176.4 and 192 kHz) may be switched to operate in “dual wire” mode, thereby reducing the maximum I/O to 12/6 channels.

In dual wire mode, it is not possible to enable the Sampling Rate Converters.

Channels 9-24 over 8 AES EBU pairs:

  • All sampling rates from 32 to 48 kHz in “single wire” mode.

  • x2/x4 sampling rates (64, 88.2 and 96 kHz/128, 176.4 and 192 kHz) may be switched to operate in “dual wire” mode, thereby reducing the maximum I/O to 12/6 channels.

DC AES DSD Version (without SRC):

  • 24 channels of 24-bit digital input over 12 AES EBU pairs.

  • 24 channels of 24-bit digital output over 12 AES EBU pairs.

  • All inputs and outputs are fully transparent and time/bit aligned over 24 bits, thus allowing the use of this daughter card for the transfer of word mapped or direct DSD signals.

  • DSD interface mode supports both Sony and P3D mode (selected under software control)

  • Compatibility with the HDTDM Bus in order to connect it to other Mykerinos boards.

Note:
In DSD (1 bit / 2.8224 MHz) operation, the maximum supported amount of I/O DSD channels for one single card is 3. To support 8 DSD I/O channels a second Mykerinos is required.
