What is PyramixTM Native?
The new PyramixTM V6 Native configuration is a software only
version of PyramixTM that meet the needs of radio broadcasters, small post
facilities, midi studios and CD mastering houses requiring a
professional, but low cost, or portable solution to their audio
recording, editing, mixing and mastering needs.
You can now specify PyramixTM Native in the same way as the main PyramixTM
system with the same application specific software packs for Post,
Mastering, Music and Broadcast.
Running on any suitable Windows® XP or Vista® desk-top or lap-top PC, as
well as Mac Book Pro under Bootcamp/Windows, PyramixTM Native retains all
the real-time editing and mixing capabilities of Merging’s main PyramixTM
system and supports all the same audio formats including PMF, WAV, BWF,
AIFF, OMF and CD Image files that can be mixed within the same project.

|
|
The integral video playback and Midi Synchronisation are also standard
(except Broadcast Pack configuration) utilising Merging’s Virtual
Transport technology. Unlike PyramixTM MassCoreTM V6.0 Native runs directly
under the Windows operating system and while the software has the same
configurations as PyramixTM MassCoreTM there will be unspecified limitations
especially at the higher sample rates and depending on the PC
specification. All PyramixTM Native configurations are fully upgradable to
the MassCoreTM capabilities at any time. |

Audio Interfaces for
PyramixTM Native |
|
PyramixTM Native has been primarily designed for, as its name
implies, “native” audio editing on laptop computers, using their
on-board audio hardware. PyramixTM Native is therefore designed to be
compatible with many audio interfaces supporting ASIO and can also
be compatible with Windows WDM Direct
Sound / Direct Capture devices, typically portable PCs on-board audio cards. For performances and stability under heavy loads, we
recommend the use of ASIO compatible equipment, with typical buffer
settings of 512 to 1024 Samples or more.
Here is the list of the 3rd party Audio Interfaces that we have tested
(using appropriate ASIO drivers) and found compatible with Pyramix 5.0
SP1, 6.0 and above.
While compatibility is not restricted to this list of certified I/O
devices since, as a general rule most (if not all) audio interfaces
compliant with ASIO 2.0 specifications should operate properly with
Pyramix Native, in no event can Merging Technologies be held responsible
if you are having troubles using any audio interface other than the ones
listed here:

Compatibility is not restricted to this list and as a general
rule all audio interfaces compliant with ASIO specifications should
operate appropriately with PyramixTM Native.
However, the tests conducted were made on a few specific platforms and
a guarantee that performances will be optimal obviously cannot be
extended to all PC platforms available on the market. Therefore, we
recommend that you thoroughly test a desired third party audio
interface unit with your own computer system before committing to
purchase.
*Validated with
Ethersound ES220 2x I/O units, therefore only stereo I/O was tested.
However, there should be no issue utilizing more I/O channels, up to
the specified maximum I/O count of 4 for PyramixTM Native,
respectively 8 for PyramixTM Native w/ Media Bundle.
